I was shooting a time lapse of elk in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and I left my camera on a tripod in the meadow shooting a frame every five seconds. A female elk wandered up next to the camera and began sniffing and licking it. Then she stepped in front of the lens and posed for this perfect self portrait.
